colours

i paint my words in watercolour;
the blues of my brush spread the sighing of wind;
the mound of my palm smudges whispers of ash
into casurina leaves—charcoals cello,
and oboes shadow root and tree bark;
the green of my song
is a wash of sea-waves hushing into sand
