you char kway
the day his wife left
he heard flour meeting oil like tempura
and gave his rage a sound, a name,
you char kway.
yi tiao bi liang tiao hao,
he heard himself proclaim
surrendering to splitting his wares
blaming bad economy as
his wedding ring fizzled to
the crunch of golden fried dough
you char kway, he bemoans
a salesman cry as he figures out how to
whittle a pair of chopsticks into one
