சிரிக்காதா வையம்?

நீமணந்த பெண்ணொருத்தி ஓடிவிட்ட தற்கா
நினைவற்றுக் கிடக்கின்றாய் நிலை கெட்ட நெஞ்சே
பூமணக்கும் சோலையிலே பூக்களுக்கா பஞ்சம்?
புவிமீது அவள் போனால் வேறொருத்தி உண்டே?

இருக்கின்ற சந்தையிலே இல்லாத சரக்கா?
இப்புவியில் பாராஎழி லோவியமா என்ன?
சிறக்கின்ற சிற்றிடையும் சிந்துகின்ற சிரிப்பும்
சிந்தனையில் நீநினைத்தால் கிடைக்காதா என்ன?

‘இருமனமும் இணைந்ததுதான் இல்வாழ்க்கை’ என்றே
இங்குள்ள தமிழ்ப் புலவர் கூறியதைக் கேட்டும்
உருவான காவியத்தை இழந்து விட்டார் போன்று
உணர்வற்று நீ கிடந்தால் சிரிக்காதா வையம்?

வெட்டுகின்ற வாள்விழியும் வாழ்க்கையிலே இன்பம் 
விரைந்தூட்டும் மலர்முகமும் வாய்ந்திட்ட பலரில் 
கட்டிவெல்லம் போலினிக்கும் கனிமொழியைக் கூறிக்
களிப்பூட்ட உனக்கொருத்தி இல்லாதா போனாள்?

Won’t the world laugh at you?

Won’t the world laugh at you?

Oh, my unstable heart!
Why are you in a senseless state, bereft of remembrance
Just because the girl you married has eloped.
There is no dearth of choice for flowers
In this fragrance-filled garden 
If she is gone 
There is another woman in this world

In this market, no goods are unavailable
This world has seen many beautiful portraits
With a beautiful waistline and a warm smile
Will you not get another woman
If you put your mind to it?

Marriage is a fusion of two hearts
Many Tamil poets here have said
Despite hearing them 
If you lie in a senseless state 
As though you have lost an epic you created
Won’t the world laugh at you?

There are many women blessed 
With razor-sharp piercing eyes and
A flowery face that will quickly fill your life with happiness
How come there is no girl for you
With words as sweet as hardened jaggery
